Homeopathic Snake Remedies
Note: Homeopathic Treatment requires strict individualization. Please do not take any medicine without consulting your physician/homeopath.
Getting Treatment
If you have been bitten by a snake, don’t delay getting treatment from both a traditional doctor and your homeopath. A homeopath considers a patient’s symptoms and other variables before prescribing a homeopathic mixture. Homeopaths consider things like what caused the disease or illness and why the patient is showing some symptoms and not others. The homeopath will then prepare a mixture specific for your particular condition.
Antivenin
Homeopathy works similar to the way that antivenin works. These antivenin antidotes tend to use some of the snake’s actual venom to create a cure for the poison. The goal is to use the problem, in this case venom, to kick-start the body’s natural defenses to fight the venom. Enough venom is used to trigger the body’s response but not to overwhelm the body’s defenses
Ophidia
Homeopathic remedies for snake venom are part of the Ophidia group of homeopathic medicines. There are 15 medicines in the Ophidia group: Lachesis, Crotalus horridus, Crotalus cascavella, Naja tripudiens, Elaps corallines, Bothrops lanceolatus, Vipera torva, Vipera communis, Vipera jedi, Cenchris contortrix, Bungarus fasciatus, Toxicophis, Hydrophis cyanocinctus, Clotho arictans and Ophiotoxinum. Homeopathic treatments are primarily used for bites by vipers, cobras, kraits and sea snakes. There are a number of remedies that can be developed from the above medicines.
Cautions
Though homeopathy has been used for centuries, its effectiveness continues to be disputed. With a condition as serious as snake bites, you should not forgo a traditional therapy for the problem. Use homeopathy to supplement whatever treatment your doctor recommends. You should also discuss both treatments with your doctor and your homeopath
